Enter The Space With iKon

I am here to welcome you into the home of an eccentric maximalist, Cameron Wright, an aspiring interior designer from PG County, Maryland. Instead of telling you from the third person, I want to give you an inside scoop on decorative style and what décor is from my perspective. Maximalism emulates creativity for those who love colors and have a bold persona.

Moving into my first apartment was the chance of a lifetime. A new space, a blank slate, and a gateway to the iKonic interior. My impromptu wall of magazine pages, “the mag wall,” took me a whole day to buy, cut, place, and paste. I wanted to bring something that I would not have done in my room with my parents to a home of my own. The key to a motivational and creative environment is to make it yourself. The mag wall allowed me to put my personal aesthetic in photography, fashion, and art on display. Because I used multiple magazines for my project; Dazed & Confused, i-D, Harper’s Bazaar, and more, I wanted my wall to give recognition to the artistic development.

Waves of pride come over me when I look at these pieces I’ve placed together. Paying attention to detail is one of the things I can say I am good at. To see Black models in bold colors surround poetry with a hint of artistic vandalism is beautiful chaos. You can either focus on one piece or take it in altogether.

“Proceed with caution because this bitch is free”

The Rihanna book is one of my top 10 prized possessions so, of course, I must make sure she is set up for all to see. The 27.8-pound book consists of 504 pages of a raw visual autobiography. Rihanna has always been one of those female artists that are fierce. Her music and music scream Badgalriri.

The exterior of the book is just as iconic as the interior. Solid hot pink fabric, the make-up, and the expression on Rih’s face give the book more life. Placing it standing on my White Metal Berkeley Valet mirror added the perfect punch of color. Surprisingly, I’ve noticed myself gravitating towards pink more as my aesthetics evolve. The color makes me feel in tune with my feminine side. Way to make me feel Pretty in Pink. Find pieces that speak to you
